Parliament of Pridnestrovie adopts region's budget for 2007

The Pridnestrovian supreme soviet has adopted the law on the region’s budget for the next year. According to the document, the revenues of Pridnestrovie’s consolidated budget will be US$146 million equivalent, and expenditures – US$100 million greater.

Such a huge deficit is going to be covered with credits to be borrowed from the Pridnestrovian regional bank (US$10 million) and “from external sources”. The breakaway republic hopes for a survival with the help of Russia, which Pridnestrovie is planning to get integrated into. Since March 2006, the Russian Federation has furnished over US$40 million in financial assistance to Pridnestrovie.

The Pridnestrovian supreme soviet says the 2007 budget is a definitely socially-orientated document, and hopes situation in budget-funded spheres should not deteriorate against the current year.
